“TAKE ME HOME, COUNTRY ROAD” A JOURNEY DOWN THE MEMORY LANE REMINDING THE SONG “YESTERDAY, ONCE MORE” “Take me home, Country Road” & “Yesterday, once more” are famous yester year songs sung by John Denver & the singer group “Carpenters” which I still love to listen to. These songs remind me of the long journeys I had undertaken to my maternal grandmother’s home- Chittenjore- a small place in the Kunnamkulam- Guruvayur Road. She used to be with us for a few months when she became free after the paddy cultivation time. She used to send us the rice she cultivated through Transporters and we used to go to the go down with the way bill to collect them. She used to clamor to get back home by before the April (Vishu time) for removing the weeds in the paddy field and start sowing seeds for the next cultivation. She used to silently ask me to accompany her as my schools would have closed by then for summer vacation and my parents would hesitantly give per
